January 2026 Newsletter

President’s Message

Happy New Year to all our Members and Co-Members and, we on the Board, wish every one of you the very best for 2026!

The Capital Corvette Club is now starting its 51st year in continuous operation.  A very remarkable achievement!  At this point in time, we are likely in the best position that the Club has ever been.  Our finances are in great shape, we have a very active membership, and the organization to run the Club is stable, experienced and energized.  I am personally looking forward to a fantastic 2026 enjoying our Corvettes to the fullest!

As you all know, our President, John Scapillati has stepped down from that position after 7 very productive years leading the Club.  In addition to the President, we had 4 additional Board Positions come up for automatic renewal plus the V.P. Social position was vacated by myself in order to assume the role of President.  Board positions are for a fixed, three year term.  The Vice President, V.P. Membership, V.P. Information Technology and the Secretary terms ended in 2025.

We, as a Club, are very fortunate, and I am personally very fortunate, to have the caliber and experience of the current Board of Directors to administer and govern the Club.  The Capital Corvette Club’s Board of Directors for 2026 is as follows:

  • President – Bob Steele (To complete term of John Scapillati – 1 year);
  • Vice President – Bryce Durant (Returning for a 3 Year Term);
  • Treasurer – Rick Charron (1 Year Remaining in 3 Year Term);
  • V.P. Social – Wanda Robinson (Appointed to a 3 Year Term);
  • V.P. Membership – Sue Baggs (Returning for a 3 Year Term);
  • V.P. Information Technology – Tim MacPherson (Returning for a 3 Year Term);
  • Secretary – Tony Duplante (Appointed to a 3 Year Term).

Now that we have everything in place, all that we need is you!  The Members!  Complete your 2026 Membership Registration and pay your annual fee ASAP.  Our Social Season begins this weekend and we have events planned for every month of the year.

Let’s all have a little fun!

Social Committee – Upcoming Events

The Social Events Calendar for 2026 is still in the planning stages but we already have events planned for 2026.  Information on upcoming events in 2026 will be posted on the CCC website under the Events tab at the following link: https://capitalcorvetteclub.ca/events-2/

We are always looking for ideas for Cruises.  Have a suggestion?  Please let us know.  Send an email to Wanda Robinson (socialdirector@capitalcorvetteclub.ca).

The following events are already in the Calendar

  • CCC Holiday Pot Luck Dinner at Van Schyndel’s
    • Punch Bowl has been sent and an excellent response to attend.  This should be one to remember!
  • Valentines Cruise in Dining – Mid February
    • Punch Bowl to be sent;
  • Darts Tournament and Pot Luck Dinner – March 21st
    • Punch Bowl to be Sent;
  • Bowling Social – Mid April
    • Punch Bowl to be Sent.

Please respond Yes or No to Punchbowl invites so that organizers have an accurate number of attendees.  If something changes and you are not able to attend after you have already responded “Yes”, please go back and change your response to “No”.  This is especially important for events where there is a cost.  If you do not cancel before the deadline, we will not be able to issue a refund.

Information Technology

MailChimp:

In December 2025, the Capital Corvette Club began using a third-party email application called MailChimp to ensure our members receive correspondence from the Club Executive.  When we send out bulk emails, many email providers flag our emails as spam and reject them.  Using Mail Chimp avoids this issue.  Because we are using the free version of this application, you will see MailChimp branding at the bottom of each email we send out.  Mail Chimp is not a sponsor of the Club.

Three Items to Note:

  • First, these emails will appear to be sent from the President’s email address and will say “Capital Corvette Club Inc” as the display name.  If you are not seeing them in your inbox, check your spam or junk folders.
  • Second, and most importantly, at the bottom of these emails you are given the option to “Unsubscribe” from the MailChimp emails.  Do Not Unsubscribe!  If you Unsubscribe, you will not receive any further club emails, and this cannot be undone even if done in error.  If you would like to not receive Club correspondence, let an executive member know and we will remove you from the MailChimp mailing list.
  • Rest assured, even though we are using a third-party application, your email information is secure, and you will not receive any emails from anyone but the club.  The email addresses we use in our distribution list come from the member portal for members and co-members.  It is important to keep this information up to date.

Facebook:         Did you know we have two Facebook accounts?

  • Capital Corvette Club Group:  This is the Club’s main interactive page.  It is a PRIVATE group, and everyone must answer a few questions before becoming a member of the Group.  New Capital Corvette Club Group requests are verified before an individual is accepted into the Group.  Once accepted you become a member of the Facebook GROUP and as part of the GROUP you will be able to contribute to it anytime either through posts or comments.  All posts and comments are subject to moderation by the site administrators and if deemed inappropriate, the post and/or the individual will be removed from the Group. We currently have almost 600 followers to this site!
  • Capital Corvette Club page: This is a PRIVATE page, and you will need to answer a few questions if you are not already authorized to view the content.New authorization (Friend) requests are verified before an individual is authorized to view the content.  Content on this page is submitted solely by page administrators. You can follow to receive posts and have the ability to comment on posts.  All comments are subject to be moderated by the site administrators and if deemed inappropriate the comment and or the individual’s authorization will be removed.

What’s App:

  • New in 2025, the Capital Corvette Club adopted the use of “WhatsApp” as a real-time member communication application.  This application has proved to be extremely useful for communicating on Club cruises.  Members are also welcome to share birthday wishes to other members, ask if anyone is interested in joining them at a local cruise-night, looking for car advice or recommendations.
  • If you would like to be added to the Club’s WhatsApp group, send an email with your request to the following address: vicepresident@capitalcorvetteclub.ca
